President Donald Trump has transformed the Supreme Court with a conservative supermajority but now faces a Democratic-led Senate ready to challenge his judicial picks. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has promised to block any "right-winger" nominees to the Supreme Court. Democrats will hold at least 54 seats in the 100-member Senate next year, giving them a significant majority to block the Republican president's nominees. Schumer has not specified whether he would hold a Supreme Court vacancy open until after the next presidential election. Trump has named three of the current nine justices, cementing a six-judge conservative supermajority. The White House says “extreme Democrats have a history of politicizing the Supreme Court."
