Australians who have hybrid office/WFH arrangements: How do you do telephony? Work-issued mobile? Work-issued computer with soft phone app? BYOD with a work app? BYOD with your personal number? Don’t do voice telephony? Boosts OK.
@futzle I don’t do hybrid/WFH myself but AIUI my colleagues who do it have work-issued phones fully paid for, bills + phone. They can use the phone for personal use, but also the expectation is that number will be able to be given out to customers for direct contact as all the WFHers have customer-facing roles.
@futzle teams voice calling as standard, on-call / after hours callouts route through to mobile after a selection menu.
@futzle We use amazon phone for our support group.
Other staff ended up on mobiles
@futzle No Telephony, just MS-Teams, which I hate, but not as much as I hate the people who use it like a telephone.
@futzle I have a work mobile, which is a bit of a legacy arrangement as we use Teams based telephony now, so in theory everyone has a "phone" on their laptop.
@futzle I have not had a job requiring voice telephoning for at least 5 years. It is all done through Slack, Teams etc.
@futzle BYOD with my personal number
@futzle current job, I personally just don't do voice telephony, internal slack calls only or external MS Teams calls (fully remote, office in Brisbane) but we do have phones in the office via https://siptel.net.au/ and I understand sometimes colleagues redirect those numbers to BYOD personal numbers.
@futzle $100 month allowance for using personal phone
@futzle no telephone - apparently there's still a work number associated with my identity, but i lost that phone in a move many moons ago.
On the extreeemely rare occasion someone needs that sort of contact, there's a enterprise video product
@futzle teams/slack is the way.
