Australians who have hybrid office/WFH arrangements: How do you do telephony? Work-issued mobile? Work-issued computer with soft phone app? BYOD with a work app? BYOD with your personal number? Don’t do voice telephony? Boosts OK.
@futzle haven't had a work phone since circa 2015, all replaced with Teams/Zoom/WebEx.
@futzle I don’t need to make a lot of calls but we can make calls to or receive calls from phone numbers on teams. Usually use my work laptop but I think the teams app on my personal phone would also do it
@futzle soft-phone and USB headset on work laptop, and some people got mobile phones supplied as well
@futzle forward my desk phone to my personal mobile. Extensive use of Teams over remote desktop connection.
@futzle Work issued mobile. Having had a work issued mobile for the last couple of jobs, I would never again do work stuff on my personal mobile.
@futzle BYOD with a personal number, although we use Teams for internal calls, including my office phone being routed through Teams, in the increasingly unlikely event someone calls me on the ""landline""
@futzle VDP with teams, as i cbf lugging around the work issued computer
@futzle BYOD with personal number, I am hybrid at 2/5 days WFH.
My side of work is mainly organised through WhatsApp and I call anyone work related in WhatsApp. Any calls I make would be company internal, basically only use email for external communication.
Other parts of the org use Teams to manage a fully remote team and I am a backup member of that part of the org so might hop into teams 1 day a month at most.
@futzle work supplied mobile, but can also get a local number in Teams if needed. I’m sure there are other ways throughout the org, but for normal non-frontline staff, that’s it.
@futzle BYOD with work app (MS Teams)
@futzle hybrid in the sense that i can go work in the office anytime i want (but don’t want to) … telephony? You mean, like, talk to people? With my voice? Babe, thats what Teams calls are for! But, seriously, nothing from work in the way of a phone - also, not customer facing :)
@futzle Teams. Precious few of my colleagues have my personal phone number and even then that's often used only for out-of-hours non-work shitposting.
@futzle teams/slack is the way.
@futzle I don’t do hybrid/WFH myself but AIUI my colleagues who do it have work-issued phones fully paid for, bills + phone. They can use the phone for personal use, but also the expectation is that number will be able to be given out to customers for direct contact as all the WFHers have customer-facing roles.
@futzle No Telephony, just MS-Teams, which I hate, but not as much as I hate the people who use it like a telephone.
@futzle @jpm remote connection to a desktop in a datacenter. Voice and video through that. Sometimes I call my mobile from a conference call. My own PC and headset. Previous job had a work provided laptop which I connected to a dock at home. Voice and video through that.
