Severe to extreme heat is gripping northern Australia.
On Wednesday, Mandora in Western Australia hit 47.4°C (117.3°F), a new November record that ties the third-highest temperature ever recorded in the state.
Darwin needs four more days above 35°C (95°F) to break its record streak. Temperatures have run 2–5°C (4–9°F) above average all week.
