Yeah that's right kid. Back in the day I had a hard drive that was on /dev/hda1
Not even /dev/sda1 I said hda that's right
I remember those days
Grub???? I used LILO
Installed Slackware from a box of floppies on a spare 486
A shoebox of floppies. It had to be a shoebox. That was the only way you were allowed to keep them
@cwebber We always had Flip'N'File™ boxes...
Livin' the high life, I guess.
I'm telling you, Windowmaker was *the shit*. It still is. It still is
@cwebber ran it for years, rock solid, I abandoned it for the conveniences of KDE but I do miss it
Do you remember that StumpWM video with the person with the incredibly deep voice named "male" pronounced mah-lay
Because I remember https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKt_rVO960Q
@cwebber That's pretty cool, i see a lot of similarities with how i have been using i3wm then Sway for the last decade and a half, though of course there are important differences, but i do use named groups/workspaces and use rofi to switch to one or move a window to one. Though it doesn't really do the "empty space" thing as far as i know (windows/groups will take all the available space), but i never really wanted that. You might have tried it and maybe didn't like it, but if you didn't, i would encourage you, it's very good.
@cwebber I saw the background (which could be straight out of Hackers honestly) before the preview image loaded, friend
@cwebber this reminds me of vimperator / vimium
it's not a full window manager but you can browse using vim key bindings / no mouse
Vimium - The Hacker's Browser
YouTube
wow what the fuck every version of this video I find is unplayable
Okay found one semi tolerable
God do I miss StumpWM. LORD do I miss it.
@cwebber I miss OpenBox
@cwebber memories of ratpoison
StumpWM and a very carefully selected set of xscreensaver demos
@cwebber why can't you continue using it? I'm using it right now :)
@katco I need to use Wayland on this computer because otherwise the tablet doesn't work right :(
@cwebber ohhh, yeah that'd do it! You're almost certainly aware, but just in case: https://github.com/stumpwm/mahogany/
@katco Maybe I should switch to Mahogany!
@kirtai @katco Wait a minute hold on what is this Guile based Wayland compositor using River https://codeberg.org/ebeem/gliver
What what what what what
@ebeem I feel like we talked about this at one point but I see you are still working on it, what's the status of this?!?!?!?!
@cwebber @kirtai @katco Hey! I am still working hard on it, I don't expect that I will stop any time soon. I already use it as my daily driver and I am trying to ensure it's bug and crash free.
Depending on how hard I push myself, I expect to release the first version soon once I fix the current known bugs.
@cwebber Christine, why didn't you solve IRL race conditions as part of ActivityPub's protocol? Very irresponsible.

@cwebber I determined how successful my install attempt was by counting the number of letters LILO printed to the screen.
