As a general note, I think one lesson Dems should have learned is that there's nothing to be gained in being slow & methodical. The way to succeed in this media environment is to do *everything at once, all the time*. Always be acting, setting the agenda, dictating the news cycle. Move, move, move.
Things that in a previous era would have been months-long scandals or controversies? Just do them, bull past them, go to the next thing. Move, move, move. "Big" controversies evaporate in our age of hyperpolitics, because we're always on the next thing, and the next thing. So just do shit.
"Kinetic" is the word. At the city level, the state level, the federal level, every Dem should be doing, pushing, acting. Slough off the resistance, blow past the scolding, ignore the pundit harumphing. Thing didn't work? Whatever, you're doing the next thing. Move, move, move.
Investigations & accountability? Yes. Structural reforms like growing the court & nuking the filibuster? Yes. Restoring federal scientific institutions & research? Yes. Building the shit out of clean energy? Yes. Taxing the rich? Yes. Do it all, at once, push on every front, always be pushing.
If the VSPs come along and scold you, too bad, you're on to the next thing, and the next thing. Don't give them time to catch up; don't give them time to make any one thing the headline. This is the key secret to Trump's success: always doing, asserting, acting, not reacting. Always be acting.
