How about no?
Ain't nobody wants to know that badly, Imma leave you here with this shit modal, "Admiral."
Browsing the web in 2026.
@oli arggh, I fucking hate that shit.
"Your browser or blocker is impacting your experience."
Love the weasel words. Not negatively impacting, however. A fine distinction here, one I realize we're not ever going to make.
I didn't make you put up the interstitial, mofo. Whose website am I on? Who built it? Who has the agency here when it comes to "impacting" my experience with a cockblocker modal?
"Please open up a security hole and allow us to show you a personalized ad for a refrigerator so that the website owner can get $0.001 for the privilege of allowing us to blast marketing propaganda into your eyeballs for a subliminal half-second."
Marketing is a good example of something that is objectively weird that has been so normalized as to have become background radiation.
Which makes it easier to forget that it's literally propaganda.
The $0.001 you receive for your online ad "impression" delivered to my eyeballs isn't "supporting" your fucking website, sorry. I know how much websites cost.
What you're actually hoping is that I'll click on that ad. (Accidentally or otherwise.)
Well then maybe you get $0.005 for the click. Maybe you get $0.01!
The ultimate dream, of course, is that at the end of this pipeline I'll buy whatever is being sold on the webpage, and that "conversion click" will be credited to the original referer (you, website) who will be treated to delicious lucre, a sweet, sweet percentage, a juicy one, carved off the top that in aggregate could probably be some real money.
But I'm telling you in advance with my ad blocking software I have no liking for ads, and zero intent to click on any of them, much less buy your fucking toaster even if I did see it.
I'm giving you a signal. One you insist on arguing with me about, trying to gin up fear that perhaps my "experience" on the web is "compromised" by my ad blocker, which could be "impacting" me.
I'm not clicking on your fucking ads. You get next to nothing for showing them to me, and I'm telling you that even if you routed around this somehow and showed me the ads anyway I still wouldn't click on them or buy anything.
Take the fucking hint, Admiral.
This is a mobile antipattern:
"Oh, you're on a device? Wouldn't you like to add a shiny new app to your collection instead of viewing this boring ol' webpage? In fact, we'll put this giant interstitial in front of the content just to sweeten the deal. You know you want that app."
