Trivial travel irritation: we're spending 3 weeks Interrailing in France and Spain in unfamiliar hotels. So we bought our travel tea and coffee kit: battery powered Nespresso machine and capsules for her, electric kettle and thermos with integral tea infuser and tea supply for me. Only both hotel rooms so far came with both a Nespresso machine and a kettle!
We could have shaved 2kg off our luggage, and at the end of an 11 hour travel day when you're over 60 that hurts.
@cstross In hotels in Spain is getting quite normal to have Nespresso machines but kettles is rarer, in the cities where they have loads of British tourism I guess they have. In first case , don't put the capsule and you get your hot water. That's what I tell to our British, for the tea, and Argentinian customers, for the mate(1).
