When can we start impeachment?
Like today, maybe late afternoon?
@stux That would be a mistake. Impeachments helped him twice. But that doesn't mean we don't impeach Hegseth and everyone around him.
@stux I think it’s a bad idea:
A) you need 67 seats in the senate, so it’s risky - would still need 13 republicans to support it
B) it would put JD in charge and he’d be incumbent for the next elections; it might help JD be elected on his own name in 2028
C) I am hoping they spend their energies Mamdani-style on showing how progressive politics can improve people’s lives
@stux I want to see the Dems put as many bills for the people as possible in front of Trump to veto. We need a landslide of evidence to stop the "both parties are the same" nonsense. Save social security by removing the cap? Yeah Dems are for it, Trump vetoed it. Raise the federal minimum wage? Yeah Dems are for it, Trump vetoed it. List goes on and on. We cannot let's them use the Dems as a scapegoat in 2028.
@stux "Maybe if we impeach Trump for a 5th time, then THIS TIME it will finally work!"
@stux We can't.
The Democrats have no intention of removing Donald Trump, unfortunately. Even if they'd gotten a supermajority, they still wouldn't do it.
They're getting absurdly wealthy off of his corruption too.
If it is not with removal from office, I want nothing.
@stux Can the US denazify? Can the trans hostile ballot measurements be voided?
@stux let's have a nice afternoon tea first with some mimosas or prosecco, not so hasty.
@stux Not enough votes in the senate to convict plus why rush to get President Vance when Trump is proving so helpful to Democrats
@stux We should offer for him to resign. He has 24 hours or we promise impeachment. Either way, he stands trial for his crimes.
@stux January. The new senators don't get sworn in immediately.
@stux that would be great, unfortunately we gotta wait until January.
Here’s the thing, with Nixon Republicans learned that if the President from their party is a crook, and gets removed, they would be crushed at the polls (they got crushed in 1974). With Trump, hopefully, they just learned that if the President from their party is a crook and doesn’t get removed, they will be crushed at the polls.
@stux Well, it'd be wise to wait until all those elected the other day take office. 😉
@stux It seems the official statement is that impeachment is not even under consideration. The corporate masters of the people allowed to be "leaders" of the Democratic won't let them.
