Sometimes I’ll get a song in my head that goes back to music class in elementary school. We had a really good teacher. I went back to visit her once when I was in university. Not only did she remember me, but she immediately recognized me ten years later as an adult. Internet search sucks so bad now, I can’t find out whatever happened to her. I hope she knows what a difference she made in all those kids’ lives. STEM education is great and all, but I’m a real fan of arts and music education.

@dillyd I often think about my art and music education in elementary & middle school. Just crazy good, even in public school. And I think about how people like Charlie Parker practiced on school-issued instruments. And how my parents, who grew up poor, both had piano lessons as kids and were surprisingly passable players during my childhood.
And how I don't think anything like this goes on down here in USA now.
