Mastodon is a place where someone who helped reform how digital security is taught to journalists can be told that posting about hypothetical situations prevents someone from taking action.
Hey reply guys? Maybe know who the hell you are speaking to.
But go on, mansplain how thinking about what you would do if you won the lottery or were the unknown heir to a fortune means you’re incapable of taking action here and now.
Heard of dreams, FFS?
One of my dreams is multi-year funding for open source, user-friendly journalist toolkits.
If I had lots of money, I would fund this myself.

Jaysus, do you really think anyone who has had to make a logic model and write a monitoring and evaluation plan narrative isn’t dreaming of having the means to just make it rain on the organisations that everyone knows will do the work? Or the software dependencies maintained by nice people who would happily code useful things as long as they had rent and burrito money?
Tell me you’ve never worked at an NGO without telling me.
If you work for an NGO, the closest you get to employer-provided healthcare is the soggy “roasted Mediterranean vegetable and hummus wrap” at a think tank event.
OF COURSE WE DREAM OF A PILE OF CASH APPEARING OUT OF THE ETHER
