This chart has just lifted an enormous weight off my chest regarding writing my thesis.
The thing I'm writing about actually works and produces the result that it should so now I can stop having gnawing doubts about the feasibility of the whole project.

@M Es geht darum, dass klassische Power-Analyse nicht mit einbezieht, dass der untersuchte Effekt auch fehlerbehaftet ist. Assurance ist ein alternatives Verfahren, dass die Varianz des Effektes mit einbezieht und eine verlässlicherer Stichprobenplanung ermöglicht. Meistens kommen dabei dann größere erforderliche Stichproben raus, wie in dem Beispiel hier.

Also, this is why a lot of clinical trials in psychology have too small sample sizes despite the researchers doing everything "right" (meaning the way they were taught).
The very commonly used tool of power analysis tends to produce smaller sample sizes than are actually needed for trial success.
