I was working at Goddard Space Flight Center when the Morris worm hit, and I had the "pleasure" of helping fix it on our servers.
On this day in 1988, Robert Tappan Morris launched his worm from MIT's network, and it spread across the young Internet. It led to the first felony conviction under the 1986 Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, and to the CERT/CC at Carnegie Mellon. (Sources: Wikipedia, Ken Polsson's Chronology) #TechHistory #InfoSec
