Saturday morning’s sunrise felt as though it could have been on Mars, the world was all yellow and orange through to deep reds. Over the Solway the blazing sky was reflected in the wet mud and sand. There’s a number of small streams that drain the intertidal mud flats, these were smooth and coloured gold. The distant mountains of the Lake District frame the view, with Skiddaw rising highest in the centre of the frame.
