Tonight’s movie night movie will be, “V for Vendetta (2006).” I don’t remember remember much of this movie but gotta watch it because it’s November.
@bigzaphod good choice! I’ll put it on my wife’s movie list too! “Remember, remember the 5th of November”
V for Vendetta is entirely too relevant. An amazing movie. A revolution without dancing is a revolution not worth having!
V for Vendetta is one of those movies that you come out of feeling like you ought to do something.
Then you shut it off and get ready for bed and think maybe tomorrow, but you know you already have plans for tomorrow.
@bigzaphod I watched it not long ago. It was pretty good.
@bigzaphod you gotta follow-up!
@bigzaphod The week’s movie night movie (our movie night is *usually* Saturday, although we seem to have a higher proportion of shifts due to life this year…) was “Mayday” (2026).
Not much to say, it’s pretty much what everyone has said: better than I expected it to be, and more than sufficiently entertaining. Also, also noted, Reynolds seems to have given up trying to play anyone other than himself, and that’s just fine here.
@montyhayter yeah Mayday was fun. Unexpectedly so, really.
@bigzaphod Sean, you are supposed to watch V on the 5th of November, not the 1st!
@chrisdejabet the problem is that the 5th isn't on a Sunday!
@bigzaphod That’s fair. We’re doing our annual watch on Friday the 6th, anyway. But at least we’ll be able to *remember* the 5th!
@bigzaphod much like “Falling Down” (which i avoided for years), i fear watching it would send me over the edge, and a whole different life arc would result
@bigzaphod four days too early!
@BenRiceM I know - movie night is Sunday and the 5th just didn’t line up either way unfortunately. So we went with it for this weekend. Better to be prepared.
@bigzaphod An
excellent movie that (sadly) never stops being topical.
FYI for anyone else interested, it’s also back in theaters this week for its 20th anniversary.
@bigzaphod My brother was a V cosplayer for quite awhile
@bigzaphod
One of my favorites.
@bigzaphod the comic is well worth a read if you’re into that sort of thing.
The one I have has a foreword from Alan Moore about the dangers of England sliding easily into fascism and you think “ahh yes those themes are relevant today” and then you notice the foreword was written in 1988 🥲
