FAA "BRIJJ" Station

Foster City, CA 9 November 2024 Rodenstock 40mm/4.0 HR-Digaron-W lens (@ f/6.3), Phase One IQ4-150 digital back (@ ISO 50), Cambo 1250 camera. This humble, somewhat dilapidated shelter, at the edge of San Francisco Bay a few miles south of SFO airport, once housed a mediumwave non-directional aviation beacon (NDB). It currently hosts a variety of aviation surveillance sensors. Its location is also a waypoint used in landing at SFO runway 28R. This kind of infrastructure, integral to modern aviation safety, is almost invisible if you don't know where to look for it. No emulsions were harmed in the making of this image. P0003542

Essential infrastructure, integral to so much of the modern world, is often nearly invisible.

Infrastructure is heroic.

@mattblaze I enjoy reading posts like this and seeing your pictures. You obviously thought beyond how much Internet points this picture is worth. I'm no photographer but I can appreciate other people's hobbies when they explain their reasons and motivations.
