I once worked in a factory making a famous chocolate bar. Hygiene was terrible - mud and even blood would regularly find its way onto the products. Now I'll happily eat food I've dropped on the floor. People think I'm gross, but knowing what I know I can't bring myself to care.
@fesshole Our food desk is filing this under do not eat, do report. The newsroom snack table has been quarantined for less.
@fesshole The production line at a baked goods factory near me was never allowed to stop even when exhausted/hungover workers vomited on it. Heard this from eyewitnesses.
@fesshole no more chocolate for me
@fesshole I’ve worked in many kitchens and deliver to dozens more while they prepped for the day. If you want sanitary food prepared, learn to cook. It doesn’t matter if it’s a food truck or a 4 star ( I don’t live in NYC that’s fancy for us) best of newest they all do the same jobs the same ways.
@fesshole The lesson learned _could've_ been "I only eat what I've seen prepared" but apparently not.
@fesshole Excuse me, but are you aware there's a conflagration going on involving your trousers?
@fesshole Worked at Sligro, one of those companies that sell food to companies. There ain't no time to clean up the rat poop, spills, inuries are your problem, etc.
Manager used to say "Nobody lose a hand today"
I quit pretty much immediately as it was the most dangerous place of work I've seen.
The management at these places have 0 shame, 0 integrity.
