This is a black and white photo in landscape format of large ornate stone archway near a Buddhist temple with a cloud covered hill in the background. Po Lin Monastery, Lantau (2016). Below and very slightly to the left of centre is the ornate white, arched structure that rises from the base of the photo. The structure is supported by four square masonry pillars with three gaps between. At the top of the pillars are two pairs of decorated lintels that stretch horizontally across each arch, with a metre space between each lintel. Between the two lintels on the outside, is a piece of masonry with three ornate openings or gaps. The pair of lintels in the centre are higher than the two outside lintels and also wider. Between the centre pair is a large horizontal rectangular plaque with four Chinese characters. On top of the pillars are four decorated, cylindrical columns with a single Chinese character set on a round plaque at the top. Above the three pairs of lintels are three roof like structures topped with oriental glazed tiles. In the background, five hundred metres away, is a dark tree covered hillside that climbs steeply into a low lying layer of brilliant white cloud that obscures all but the base of the hill.
