The text is two sentences: original, genre, and own-asset games are fine, a specific existing game is not, even renamed. XDA found it in the 2.1.314 binary, so it is not only a server-side toggle.

@cwebber @dthompson I read someone say a couple of days ago that Claude has gotten so good at game development that you can just say "make this game more fun" and it'll do it. And that it can make a complete game with 3d models, original music composition and everything, autonomously.

This is simultaneously very impressive and one of the most depressing things I've read in all of this cursed year.

I found the post kind of sad, but especially because it felt like it was once again taking the joy out of something, but last night @vv suggested, well, why not actually trying all the games?

Only the first one was kind of fun (and it had a lot of issues still); everything else was... painful. Not only in terms of the mechanical issues, but also just completely hollow, soul-crushing feeling play experiences. I can't imagine that anyone other than the person who vibed these games would be excited to play them.

@datarama @dthompson I don't doubt that Simon had fun with them. But overall, @vv and I walked away feeling like the kind of "fun" you have with these games is similar to the kind of fun people have with most vibey genAI stuff: it's mostly fun and feels personal to the person doing the prompting. It's a lot like telling someone about your dream. You have this dream, it feels like it's amazing, it feels very personal. But then you try explaining it to anyone else and it just sounds like a series of disconnected events, and to make it not feel that way, you have to really kind of work the narrative retroactively.
