This is making me imagine a instant messenger where everyone's avatar is a little pixel art image of them or their idealized self holding a sword, and if it detects that person is having a high-velocity conversation with someone it shows them battling, like, a skeleton. If they're having multiple high velocity conversations they're surrounded by a swarm of hopping slimes they are swinging at desperately

@LyallMorrison well okay I HAD a MailChimp but they deleted it along with my subscriber list because I didn't log in on the website often enough, which I think is kinda bullshit

Trivia: When I was working at [REDACTED] we used the Atlassian suite, and so I had a single shared profile icon on the chat/jira/source control systems. My icon was Sue's dialogue portrait from Cave Story, and I moved back and forth between her "Happy", "Fired up/ready to go", "Angry" and "Sick/nauseated" portrait variants depending on how I felt like the project was going that week. I don't believe anyone ever noticed. On the day I left, I changed my icon for good to her "Fainting/dead" variant
