To me, #Mastodon is by far the best social medium. But even the best can always get better. Here are four features, I would love to see:

1. Sharing more than 4 photos in a post.
2. Fast way to accept alttexts suggested by others.
3. Formalised way to append factual information to disinformation posts.
4. The ability to share longer, formatted texts.
5. A standardised way to display a user's country of residence for those who wish to do so.

What would you like to see?

#mastodon

@randahl I'd also love:

- To have a toggle to limit search results from only users I follow.

- A way to see some sort of badge that a user I'm viewing is on a server that has limited the server I'm viewing from.

@mntyfrsh if user's server Is defederated from yours, you will not see his message at all)

@Xen4n @randahl Yeah good point. Edited my post to just say "limited" (and not "defederated").

1. Already possible for other platforms (Pleroma, Misskey etc)
2. What should this look like? You post without Alt, others commenting with Alt in message, you apply it to your posted photo? For me would be better to include auto-alter for client.
3. You can comment the post, or report it to your admin, which can manage this user for your instance.
4. Already possible for other platforms (Pleroma, Misskey etc) with 5000+ symbols and Markdown, HTML etc...
5. You can set it in your profile description. But this feature is good and easy to implement.

@randahl Native compound expressions for filters and lists. eg. Make it easy to create a politics feed that excludes the US, or only view posts about US politics from people I follow, or only from mutuals.

@dcdeejay you can already follow a hashtag like #uspol. Does that not solve it?

@randahl I do follow hashtags, but I'd like more control - like seeing that specific hashtag exclusively from people I follow. Or that specific hashtag except from Bluesky accounts. Or that specific hashtag ONLY when combined with the SCOTUS hashtag. Or that specific hashtag except when the word Trump is in anywhere the text OR the image ALT text. Just a bit more control for those who want it. Should be relatively easy to implement.

@dcdeejay that would be cool. Although I think it is a feature which nerds like you and me appreciate more than most users.
