@cblgh that's classic, I remember when we were in Tonga, someone was telling us the story of how people tried to bring the cassava abroad, they brought with them the seeds, but not the songs and nursery rhymes that reminded the locals the dangers of the plant.

@neauoire cassava story: i have a friend who bought some and brought them home. they were peeling them and i think got a bit distracted mid-peeling. a little while later they were all feeling a bit woozy
i think someone remembered something or looked something up because very soon they quickly opened all the windows they could and evacuated the kitchen
turns out they almost poisoned themselves with the cyanide gas uncooked cassava can give off :o
