📬 Trunk & Tidbits for September 2026 is now out!
Our monthly blog post series is there to showcase what we worked on last month.
A lot happened last month in preparation of our upcoming Mastodon 5.0 release. We also merged an optimisation to account deletion federation (which requires signed fetches for accounts), a few improvements to the moderation panel and to our FASP integration.

@MastodonEngineering i’m not the only one, but the new website UI, not really a fan of it. It kind of just gets rid of everything and makes everything “missing”. I didn’t have any issue with the old design, it was perfectly fine. The new design makes me not want to use the website. I’d rather use https://elk.zone which has a more classic look. The look now is just too barebones. And putting the notifications in the bottom left makes absolutely no sense, it should be under Explore
