Does anybody know where Haiku is regarding LLM, AI and all that?
@bjc You didn't miss something, I did. I was the one very poorly reading this thread, I've been corrected and I modified my original message to acknowledged I was wrong.
Clarification: I apparently read this extremely poorly! I was wrong.
Original message below.
Mh, Haiku doesn't seem to be doing any better than Linux when it comes to rejecting LLMs. 😞 https://discuss.haiku-os.org/t/ai-clarification/20205
@KekunPlazas ?? that seems to be a few randoms slop liking/''neutral'' and a haiku developer pushing back against those people
@Ember OK I probably read this *very* poorly, my bad, thanks for telling me! 😬
@KekunPlazas This is not a regular contributor; the core team does reject slop on copyright grounds and the OP is kinda being course corrected by the community in that thread?
What is the concern?
@trashheap OK I probably read this *very* poorly, my bad, thanks for telling me! 😬
@KekunPlazas There are a lot of drive by folks in the forum who keep trying to "improve" Haiku with slop, and keep getting turned away. OR have their projects contained to certain categories om the forum,. ( Usually "Proprietary & Other" )
Which is what theyve been doing in the forums.
Haiku's position is that they won't ship LLM code in the main product; but can't really do anything about third party software; or slop apps developed by others for it. Thus they mostly try to contain the forum slop chatter instead of banning it.
@trashheap My only concern is that it's hard to find places in FOSS that actively reject slop, especially in the while stack.
@KekunPlazas Are we readin the same thread? The Haiku dev seems pretty unequivocal in rejecting LLMs, though uses especially polite words to describe that rejection.
@vtrlx OK I probably read this *very* poorly, my bad, thanks for telling me! 😬
@KekunPlazas My read is that the dev was being very patient in guiding the OP into understanding that using LLMs is unwise, instead of simply telling the user outright not to use the slop machine. It's a more dillomatic approach versus a more aggressive one, but the gial seems to be aligned with what you and I would want to see.
