In 2016 I bought some Mitutoyo vernier calipers. They came with an SR44 button cell. I have just replaced that battery for the first time. Granted I haven't used them a huge amount in those 10 years, but the manual says the battery life is 18,000 hours continuous use!
I reckon more battery powered devices should prioritise long battery life over other things.
Another example is my Pebble watch. It goes weeks between charges, compared to my previous Apple Watch, which was lucky to go two days.
