suggestion to any "authoritarian socialist" countries still out there: you can probably get a lot of tech nerds to overlook your lack of personal or political freedoms if you put some genuine effort into funding and developing an important piece of open-source software

put some serious effort into a FOSS office suite to compete with ms office or some really sleek desktop environment (or, even better, a new browser engine!) and you'll get plenty of westerners talking about how those oppressed religious minorities are actually doing fine or how media censorship makes perfect sense and everyone opposing that is just doing CIA propaganda without needing to actually teach anyone to be "i am john smith, simple farmer from seattle, washington d.c."
