When Apple announced there was going to be a folding-screen iPhone, I figured there were two possible explanations. The first was that they had figured out how to solve an industrial design problem with folding-screen phones that nobody else had been able to solve. The other was that the days when Apple would let a market niche slide because they couldn't come up with a product to fill it that met their standards were over.

@jalefkowit I feel like with this product the last vestiges of the Jobs era died, though perhaps it already did with the face computer (Vision Pro)

@jalefkowit one of the weirdest things about that product category has been the way people keep claiming that the technology works but literally 100% of the folding phones I’ve ever seen have gigantic highly-visible creases on what is marketed as a premium product.

I get marketers lying because they’ve been told to move product but I struggle to understand how someone can be such a huge Samsung or Apple fanboy that they’ll pretend a glaring flaw they live with daily isn’t there.

@jalefkowit imo the vision pro was their big "oh the old apple is dead" whiff and nothing surprises me now
