Software project for this winter: can I hack the #Jank compiler to compile #Clojure onto the #PostScarcitySoftware back end? If I could, then I wouldn't have to rewrite any of my own projects of the past decade to Post Scarcity.
And a key part of the Post Scarcity project was that you were supposed to be able to have language transducers, so why not start with Clojure?

@yogthos To be honest, I've done very little serious software in about six months. A mix of reasons -- partly depression, partly just too many other demands on my time. I'm really keen to get myself a good software project to get my teeth into over the winter.

@yogthos I'm really dissatisfied with the ergonomics of the software environments we have now, both as user environments and as development environments. As user environments, they're VERY LITTLE better than where #InterLisp was in 1984; as development environments, they are substantially LESS productive.
At the same time, I've been thinking this for the past twenty years, and playing with #Clojure for the last thirteen, and I've succeeded in building NONE of the tools I need.

@yogthos I want a system which runs a good #Lisp down to the metal, where every part of the system can be hacked on in the same language; #Clojure is to my mind the best Lisp we have now, but I'd be satisfied with #CommonLisp if that built a bigger team around it, and I'll admit today I'm excited by @hanshuebner's bare metal Genera.
(That he can do drivers for 'the pointer devices, fingerprint reader, WiFi card and ethernet port' in 2 days makes me green with envy)

@simon_brooke I'd be curious to hear how your experience with Jank is compared to Jolt since they're in a similar space, if you got a chance to play with Jolt much that is :)
