Photo of a pair of plump grey birds with broad, brown and buffy breasts marked with little scale-like half-moon markings; tiny, quirky, glossy black faces bordered with bold white striping, and fuzzy brown "eyebrows" capped by a small, curled plume of feathers that erupts like a cartoon question mark from their foreheads. The birds, California quail, are standing on a weather-beaten deck railing in the late morning sun against a backdrop of curly willow leaves. The one on the left is standing in left-facing profile, eir face turned just slightly towards us. The one on the right is facing us, eir plump dollop of a body fulled out in the brisk air, eir head stretched up and looking quizzically off to eir right. There is a bit of Laurel and Hardy charisma to them.
