Buying an USB TTL Serial adapter was a really good idea. Inspecting all kinds of UART streams directly from your laptop, without having to program a microcontroller, or digging for the logic analyzer, or the oscilloscope, just makes things easier sometimes.

@scy LogiLink AU0032 has 4 ports (that one I have actually used for very weird lab equipment, it works very well), LogiLink AU0033 apparently has 8 ports. Not sponsored 😅
@scy that would be cool!
At work we have these 19"-rack-sized RS232-to-RFC 2217 multiplexers, but their price is in the "request a quote" button range…
For 3.3V levels, a spare server with USB hub running ser2net (likewise RFC 2217) is the current solution, but yours still sounds better!
@daniel_bohrer I just found this chunky boi, and if you scroll down they also have some RS232 and RS485 devices.

Its 5 V input is _optional,_ they say, and for most scenarios USB power should be sufficient.
That said, why are these only available with a single transceiver per device?
Give me 8 UART heads per USB port! It's not like the bandwidth would be a problem…!
