The longer I am a researcher, the clearer it seems to me that science is universal. The divide between the humanities & physical / natural sciences, for example, is socially convenient but not really meaningful. The best science, across all fields, investigates patterns and systems; records complexity and draws out its commonalities; and attempts to delineate uncertainty. I respect the knowledge of biologists, which I do not have, but I also see how their approaches / methods are echoed in mine.
