1./ On the evening of October 6th, I was rushed to the hospital. I was convinced I was suffering from a severe inflammatory episode, given the unbearable pain that had been ravaging me for nearly a month. I had no idea what the diagnosis would be: stage 4 cancer, with metastases in several locations.

A brief explanation regarding the delay in my projects.

For nearly a month, I have been ravaged by excruciating pain caused by one (or a combination) of these 3 conditions.

- Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR)
- Cervicobrachial neuralgia / cervical radiculopathy
- Rheumatoid arthritis

I am scheduled for a nuclear medicine scan (scintigraphy) in a few days.

Then I'll know for sure and get treated for it. Finally!?

I could work on a few tracks; it would likely do me a world of good. Some are nearly finished. Or perhaps I could explore some new ideas.. keep moving forward, despite everything. Lately, I’ve been thinking about it.. more and more.

I had thought about it a few times before I got sick. I’ve even done it in the past.

Right now, though, I first need to see if I’m capable of getting back to working on music. I’m starting radiation therapy sessions next week; they should help ease the pain and restore some of my independence.. or at least, that’s what I’m hoping for.

But yes, why not.. perhaps later on?

@solarphasing I don't have any specific ideas in mind, no. But I've always found that if I start into music making with someone else, the collaboration can find its own legs. It's a little more complicated at a distance, of course, but I'll start thinking of ways to take that distance out of the equation.

A mobile palliative care team visited me this Thursday and concluded that I would need assistance with certain daily tasks. The progression of lesions on my lumbar vertebrae has cost me mobility.. and, consequently, my independence. I now live almost entirely in a single room, alone, face-to-face with myself. :0)

I haven’t played a single note of music since I returned home about two weeks ago.

My children and some friends come to visit me regularly.
My children have arranged things to provide me with as much help & support as they can. They have their own lives, so it’s not always easy. I don’t particularly like asking them for things. I know it’s silly, but I feel uncomfortable doing so. Coming to terms with the fact that you can no longer do much on your own is a difficult step.

I have my first radiotherapy session scheduled for early November; I truly hope it will help alleviate this excruciating pain and restore some of my mobility. That would already be a major step forward.

The medical team is currently awaiting the biopsy results in order to establish a chemotherapy/immunotherapy protocol.

Unfortunately, it is inoperable.

I am now back home, receiving palliative care.. with a hospital bed and 24/7 oxygen,.. while waiting for a treatment protocol to try to halt the disease's progression and manage the constant pain. From the very beginning, I insisted on being able to return home before starting any intensive therapies..or, for that matter, deciding whether to undergo them at all.

I have a radiotherapy session scheduled for early November, which should hopefully improve things. My left arm is completely unusable, etc..due to bone metastases, with serious lesions on three of my vertebrae. I can't walk since 5 days; I am typing using just one finger on the keyboard. 🤣

You have to keep your sense of humor. :0)
