must have been rough closing down all those studios (i'm not kidding)

@lain Typical ussr strategy.
@lain Imagine being Xbox management right now
The newest Halo game sold worse than an indie game, the new consoles is projected to cost 1800$, and they just announced a new wave of layoffs is coming after laying off like 6000 people this year
@ocean @lain
They also just completely ruined Gears of Wars, series won't recover and it's selling much, much less than recent disasters that is also never going to get their money back
Spyro is multiplatform because despite having Banjo, they retained 0 platformers fans on their platform, so now they're suddenly stuck with several high grade nostalgia platforming mascots they cannot really do a thing with with basically still the only thing about Rare worth "owning" is a legacy better whored out to Nintendo
Despite Sony's bullshit about digital, no collectors wants to touch the thing because they already had a really bad % of complete on disc game
What a fucking shitshow

@coolboymew @ocean @lain Yeah it's sad to look at. The original Gears of War was my first Xbox 360 game and I really liked it but the series went to shit after the 3rd one released 15 years ago.
After the 3rd game Epic stopped making them and it got made by a new team called The Coalition and they hamfisted idpol into the games and made them worse.

@ocean honestly i'm happy that asha is stone cold, all those bad games that took forever were not the fault of evil microsoft execs breathing down the studios' necks but pretty much the opposite, they could do whatever they wanted and still got money. (see double fine spending five years on a clay pot fighting game and a walking simulator in which you play a lighthouse)
@lain Moving Halo to another studio was also a great idea, but I worry it may be too little too late
