Really great insights from A New Social. On the one hand, I'd be thrilled to have proper Nostr bridge support, but I'm glad that this organization is thinking from a Trust & Safety perspective.

@tchambers the endgame is to not depend on Big Tech douche techbro billionaire owners, and not allow them to own #SocialMedia nor use their nefarious influence to destroy democracy

#ATProto is #DTBO -Dorsey created, VC cryptobros own #Bluesky. And #Threads is just Meta.

They will not allow people to see or say things against their owners' interest, as this past weekend clearly showed.

I guess memories are short.

Right now, Bridgy Fed connects the web, ActivityPub, and AT Protocol. Long term, our goal has always been to level the playing field across many more technologies. We’ve always believed that a new standard shouldn’t be hindered by network effects, and people who want to use them should be able to without needing everyone they care about to have to use it with them. We’ve also shown that by bridging networks, we’re actually able to bridge protocol features as well. Bridgy Fed is completely open

@tchambers I disagree. We shouldn't compete on standards; we should cooperate on standards. Competition hurts everyone working on the Open Social Web. It makes most players refuse to engage; they sit on the sideline and wait until a leader emerges. It keeps us from reaching critical mass.

@evan I didn’t read “compete” as in zero-sum, one wins one loses, market share competition. But as let each platform learn off of each other and build new ideas, always being open as the base - so open to bridge and interop.
