She said she wanted poutine. Her wish is my command — I found poutine. Although I have to tell you, it’s not easy to find poutine in the city — only two places dropped on my radar. One — in Hells Kitchen one — in Boerum Hill.
We picked the second one. Boy, a poutine hub that was, Mile End Delicatessen on Hoyt Street. Classic poutine, Smoked meat poutine, Poulette poutine, Schnitzel poutine, General Tso’s poutine, Bubbie’s poutine with brisket. And the place itself — not too busy, not too fussy, very friendly.
A plate of Bubbie’s, and order of Montreal smoked meats, some chopped liver, known as pâté in highfalutin circles, and house pickles made our night before Delirium at The Space at Irondale.
