Is anyone ever going to make a good 7-8" android tablet again? (Rhetorical question...)
@dangillmor I'm really surprised that no one has made a wireless, touchscreen, computer terminal. Why have a separate device to setup, backup, manage, etc., when you could just log into your phone, computer, or cloud server?
@dangillmor that’s why I switched to an IPad mini. Would switchback if something satisfactory.
@dangillmor 78" android tablet, you say…?
@dangillmor I still miss the Nexus 7. Narry has there been as good a tablet in the Android space since.
@dangillmor
I'm happy with the Lenovo Tab One.

@dangillmor You said "good" and "android" in the same sentence. I think you answered your own question …
(IMO the last "good" android tablet was the Google Nexus 7 generation 2, which came out in 2013 and was discontinued in 2016.)
@cstross That was a great tablet. Naturally Google killed it off. I suspect they made a deal with Apple on that.
@dangillmor We should be asking for devices that don't rely on operating systems owned and enshittified by big tech.
@dangillmor Honestly, I never used them.
@dangillmor I saw that MNT was working on a 7" tablet, but the last update was May 2026.
