👀 "We are planning to enable this new design on mastodon.social tomorrow, on the 20th October"

I'm curious how the transition of "Private Mentions" → "Messages" is going to work, in terms of technical implementation and users' understanding.

#Mastodon is getting a new look in our upcoming 5.0 release.

We wrote a bit more about our design process and how we approach community input. If you’re on mastodon.social you will see the new design tomorrow, on Tuesday. We rely on your feedback!

@null the "DM"s will be hidden from timelines in new design, so I'm not sure how we'll "migrate".

And the way it works here and how non-technical people understand it, is different.

@cheeaun I've been writing PMs to myself with no handles for a while just as a way to put thoughts into words without making it a conversation, I wonder how this update is gonna affect that.
