As we were reminded yet again yesterday, we can’t take anything for granted with this election when Trump and his enablers are desperate to avoid accountability for their actions.
If only there were a social media network where you were you could organize and not be vulnerable to being screwed over by it's billionaire owner. 🤷
@mastodonmigration @indivisibleteam
My sister participates in many Indivisible planning events, while I merely follow then on Mastodon. Any time she tells me about what's upcoming, I'm always "Yup, saw it in a toot".
@mastodonmigration @indivisibleteam
I know we're all pulling for the same things, both in politics and corporate-free social media. So yes, let's keep hitting Meta over this. But I don't think @indivisibleteam is a good example of people who trusted corp. media and are reaping the results.
But I'd prefer if we didn't do that Mastodon thing where we scorn the people who are forced to go anywhere there are lots of people. I want the votes from Instagrammers! So I'm glad Indivisible is there.
@jztusk @mastodonmigration @indivisibleteam
Best of both worlds situation. Only superficial things on Insta and the deep organizing happens somewhere else. Not Facebook. Somewhere decentralized. A hub website perhaps.
This is not intended as scorn. It is intended as an object lesson that depending exclusively on corporate media is a vulnerability.
Of course, presence on big networks is necessary, but so is investing effort in building defensible systems of communication as a counter to these kinds of attacks.
I'm with you, for clarity. There's a caveat though, right? A movement like Indivisible also has to go where eyes are. Yes, _bring_ the eyes here. Put it on _all_ your media. Let Fedi/Masto _be_ your socials _home_.
But at the high end what do we have like 3 million fedi accounts? I _love_ Fedi too, I'm not going anywhere and I _don't_ use other socials. I just don't think it's fair to send the _above_ indifference at an org _trying_ to do some good. <3
Hopefully, you know I love ya and I'm not _trying_ to be a dick. <3
I appreciate everything you do here.
Of course. No offense taken. Social media strategy is an important conversation.
The idea that 'they have to go where the eyeballs are' is very valid. A total social media strategy needs to incorporate a presence on big tech media. No argument.
That is independent from having a strategic commitment to participating in building defensible communications on public social media, independent from reliance on corporate networks.

The ability of tech billionaires to silence opposition voices really underscores the importance of on-the-ground, people-powered movements with a presence everywhere. Please pitch in if you can to power our nationwide organizing to get out the vote, win the midterms, and stop the regime’s election sabotage: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/2026-general-election?refcode=mastodon20261018directpost&source=mastodon
No. It underscores the need for you to invest effort in helping to build out defensible networks where you can not be silenced.
This was a strategic mistake. You have repeatedly been told that depending on billionaire media is a vulnerability, and you ignored the warnings, and this post indicates you have not learned the lesson even now.
@mastodonmigration @indivisibleteam This is the part that needs to be said, bluntly.
IT WAS NEVER A SECRET WHAT BLUESKY WAS. The problem is addiction to the stuff the billionaires want them to be addicted to.
Putting it nicely and supportively didn't work. Why do people think they can rely on The Man to help them overthrow The Man?
@W6KME @mastodonmigration @indivisibleteam "but, but, but.... #bluesky SAYS they're a 'corporation for public benefit'..."
Yeah. It was founded by the same douchebag who sold twitter to musk because musk would 'elevate the light of human consciousness' or some such BULLSHIT.
Guys.... Hint hint much?
And that DTBO is still owned by venture capitalist crypto techbros.
Come ON. How naive must one be? If naive is even the word, here.
No Kings. No Demands. What Happened?
Behind the scenes, Indivisible, the organization leading America’s largest anti-Trump protests has declined to endorse impeachment—and pressured local organizers who demand it.

And see... Reading _their_ messaging makes me feel like an asshole for having said _anything_ at all to you earlier.
If their only message is, "Billionaires mean, please send money," how the hell am I supposed to get behind _that_?!
I mean, I agree billionaires are mean, and bad. ... I guess... Send money? 🤷
@mastodonmigration @indivisibleteam THIS.
This right here, guys.
@indivisibleteam
Really? Zuckerborg up behind Trump at his inauguration didn't give even a hint of this coming? Or the multiple state dinners he's been at? Or the signing of all Trumps ridiculous edicts (eg AI / SI)?
Corporate social media barons trying to disrupt your movement is about the most predictable outcome possible. You need to assume they will do it far more again (including YouTube)
