Turned on the shower and got a water pressure I would describe as "European"
@mcc
Being my job to pressurize water in buildings, please define a terrible and the right pressure (in bar, not in psi).
@Davide_Sandini uhh sure hold on let me get to Europe with some testing equipment real quick
@mcc at least the water does not taste like chlorine. I won't return to Canada, my home, for that reason alone :-)
@poetaster @mcc when I moved back from southern Germany to Toronto I definitely experienced chorine shock with the drinking water. So I got a filter jug and it's fine. Or I got used to it. Or some combination thereof.
@deborahh @poetaster i started in Houston so I came to Toronto and was like "wow… this tap water is great"
@mcc I've always lived here and I think the tap water is great too. We're lucky to have it!
@mcc @poetaster both Montreal and Toronto have great tap water, yes, chlorine aside. I feel lucky. So many do not.
@mcc sadly yes. We coax our water out of the tap with calm patience
@mcc@mastodon.social depends. The commie blocks around here tend to be fine regarding this.
@ekatwired *thinks* to be clear, is this a euphemism or were these buildings actually built by Communists
@mcc @ekatwired a lot of block buildings built during communist times are the bulk of the housing stock in most post communist countries. With regards to the pressure, in the places I've lived the pressure in general is pretty fine, but they use those puny hand shower heads instead of actual showers. It's a big pet peeve of mine since I moved to Europe
@mcc Americans reading this, I respect you and your cultures! But I have some criticisms!
1) You are shit at choosing presidents.
2) Every building on your continent has terrible electric tension.
@khleedril I have some additional criticisms of North America actually
@mcc Come to Finland. We have so much water pressure.
@WAHa_06x36 Hmm… but do you have inexpensive wooden furniture?
@mcc Don't get me started on the "inspection shelves" built into eastern European toilet bowls. Oh, wait, too late.

@mcc well, it depends on two factors. 1. How bloody cheapo the original builders were. 2. How bloody tall and old the building. In my house, 3 stories, cold pressue is fine (5~6 bar). Warm, cause the folk who built it were cheapo, crap at under 3 bar. In Berlin I lived on the 7th of 18 floors in a building made by communist youth in 1972. They didn't shower. So why should we .... I shudder to think what it was like in the 18th floor.
@mcc Finland has real water pressure. Maybe Sweden and Norway as well, I don't remember.
@mcc A lot of Catalans, Basque people, Bretons etc have died for that water pressure /j
@mcc thinking about people arguing 'but this is historically relevant water pressure!!!! changing it would impact our historical accuracy!!'
@mcc when i turn on the tap in the kitchen, a normal amount of water comes out at a normal rate. this is so unusual here that a plumber who was here recently literally exclaimed "wow! you have great water pressure"
@mcc don't know about water pressure, but as a french person i certainly can't argue on your first point
@mcc it's not a good shower unless the water pressure borders on becoming ablative.
@mcc@mastodon.social
this post enrages me and i dont know why
