OooooOooh Municipal Glitter!

The reflective powder used mixed with white paint to make crosswalks visible at night. This crosswalk in New York City has been freshly painted, and I got some of the glitter on my shoes.

@futurebird I collected some of that stuff once and used it in a papermaking class. Retroreflective paper!

A sheet of handmade paper: a portrait-orientation off-white rectangle with uncut edges. It has near-vertical slashes of deep black and bright yellow, and some roughly circular red spots.

The same paper, but photographed with a flash. Most of the design just looks a bit washed out, but the black slashes are now covered with bright silvery sparkles, nearly obscuring them.
