Also, I think this may prevent our app from being included in the official F-Droid repo, but we have our own repo with Push Notifications and Maps (for Places).
I wrote a custom Expo module for the Google MLKit translation feature.
The Pixelfed translate feature uses the same models as Google Translate, but I want to stress that it's entirely handled on-device, no text/data gets transmitted to any remote server (see the docs linked below for proof).
I will open source this and a few other custom modules I wrote for Pixelfed later this year ❤️
