Uh oh

I'm very serious about this, move the compose box out of the left column (or otherwise cause the compose box to cover up content) and I walk. I don't get to move off mastodon.social due to mastodon never actually implementing a migration feature but I can definitely find an alternate frontend

The great UI update era, where Mastodon and Pixelfed both release a massive redesign within weeks of each other.

What a time to be federated 🔥

@mcc I think I'm going to do and old-fashioned migration soon. Just posting somewhere else and updating my profile to point and then maybe have my account boost the new account posts for a little time. Not perfect but it's maybe enough. People who actually care will follow and those than don't, won't. I really don't care about the numbers.

@cararemixed where the devil do i even move to? administering wordpress has proven to be too much for me, no way can i administer a mastodon instance

@mcc Oh I am just going to host a slightly modified snac instance. Not saying it's appropriate for your needs. I'd offer to host you too but I should get it working for me. Also that UX may feel a bit too minimal for some people.

you probably already know this, but snac supports the mastodon APIs so you can use other apps/frontends with it

@mcc They should allow us to keep that in settings. cc @mellifluousbox

@dansup @mellifluousbox it's legitimately hard to maintain an alternative layout in a setting forever. the more settings you add the bigger your testing matrix becomes

@mcc @mellifluousbox Yeah that is true, but they do already have the advanced view, and they have a single column view that could make more sense for this, so it is intentional.

My issue with it is, why isn't it centered horizontally and vertically, it is very strange how they positioned it on desktop
