I think Pixelfed Albums and Instagram Carousels create a compelling user-experience.
You tell a story or express a message as a series of images.
These images can, of course, include text (in the image). But, they also include visual elements.
The experience can be richer and more compelling.
On other platforms, such as Mastodon, you don't get the same user-experience. The images aren't the focus. And, you don't necessarily get a swipe-able user-experience.
