So over the last 6 months Christine found out DJ Shadow was coming to town and got us both tickets, and I found out Armand Hammer was coming to town and got us both tickets, and tonight we sit down to sync our calendars and we realize THEY'RE ON THE SAME NIGHT. SIMULTANEOUSLY THE TWO TOURS JUST HAPPEN TO CONVERGE IN TORONTO ON OCTOBER 7.
IT DIDN'T OCCUR TO US TO CHECK. WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF THIS
No idea what to do about this! I was really looking forward to both these shows lol
Armand Hammer was intense. They ran with no DJ, just set up a laptop in the back with the backing tracks, occasionally one of the two would amble back and fiddle with it while the other one was rapping. No net. Like half the songs had backing tracks with no beats, just spoken word over bonerattling bass and it all hit like a truck
The line "All white crowd, I laugh at life's little jokes" landed on the crowd with a kinda noticeable effect. I mean… it definitely wasn't an *all* white crowd… but…
@mcc this was mostly my experience seeing Serengeti in Portland. He had an old school iPod full of backing tracks and was just sitting on a stool rapping over them! The crowd was small but all huge fans, myself included, so it was honestly fine but definitely an intense energy to it

The really ironic thing is I have this feeling if you told DJ Shadow this was happening he'd be like "oh damn I'm missing an Armand Hammer concert?!"
