reading a kid's book that's set in Fidel Castro's Cuba 1961, and covers how the country raised their literacy rates over the course of a year. The program involved 250,000+ volunteers who went out to towns and farms to teach.
The book follows an fictionalized account of a 13 year old literacy teacher. (Although it is true kids that young participated!)
It really is impressive how this program was organized.
@rtpuppydog Everything I've ever learned about the Cuban people speaks to a spirit of resiliency and resourcefulness that humbles me.
