💌🐦⬛ Mirlo Monthly Roundup: Oct 2026
The early bird catches the worm, or closes a bunch of GitHub tickets or something…and maybe even has some time to work on a bunch of new features! 🪱🐦⬛
Let's take a look at October then:
Some notable improvements and exciting developments on Mirlo.
A look at CASA principles and how computing might align with communities rather than being in opposition to them.
For those familiar with Mirlo's own AI policies, here's an article from Hearing Things that looks into the proliferation of AI artwork and the negative impact it's having, with a focus on Hip-Hop album covers.
Liz Pelly looks at the state of listening. Further reading here.
We shared our first subscriber-only post which talked about when things go wrong and how we use Mirlo ourselves.
As usual, we also found a bunch of incredible releases that we shared throughout the month for Mirlo Mondays. Check them out below.
October 5th 2026: Over the weekend, one of our Mirlo Stewards thought that they might quietly celebrate the 10th anniversary of their first solo album, but Mirb’s got other ideas and we’re going to share it with you for #MirloMondays! This is the breathtaking “No Answers No” by MOWUKIS. 💿🐦⬛You might also recognise the third track from watching The Indie Beat TV...
October 12th 2026: This week, we're recommending an instrumental release by Maxime Pem, which blends the towering, epic synths you'd expect from early M83 with the acoustic rawness of "Is This Desire?" era PJ Harvey, plus a bit of trip-hop thrown in for good measure. 👀🐦⬛
October 19th 2026: We're time travelling to 2022 for #MirloMondays this week, to bring you an alt-rock track by Waxlimbs that twists and turns towards an unexpected destination and that sounds like it could be the cinematic, sonic touchstone of a legendary battle in front of a gothic castle or a stormy city skyline. 🏰🥊🐦⬛
October 26th 2026: "Water & Tools" is an exploration that follows Canadian multi-instrumentalist Jairus Sharif all over the place. From spacey modal saxophone to skronked-out fuzz, the album documents a wide range of expression, moving from one sound to another with abandon. 👁️🐦⬛
Don't forget you can share your Mirlo release news, recent purchases, merch, subscriptions and more with us on the Social Web, Bluesky or Instagram. There's a Discord server too. It's actually our birthday next month, so do tag us in all of those places and we may end up featuring something on our blog… 🎂🐦⬛👀
