my teacher thinks im a soprano with a blocked upper range because i dont sound like a mezzo so by process of elimination soprano is the only remaining possibility!
given most women are sopranos, it is indeed the most statistically likely possibility

@jannem Senesino, no doubt!
honestly at this point i don't care about the label but we have spent most of the last few months trying to "unblock my upper range" and its like, i have a whole rest of my voice too, u kno
i suppose she is treating it like an emergency because a soprano who cant sing higher than E5 is a shitty soprano.
what if i was a shitty soprano that sounded really good in a lower tessitura tho?
Aha! Finally the lessons clicked and I have unblocked up to D6! D6 on command!! And not a screech either!
shockingly, the range that was the most comfortable for me before is STILL the most comfortable. But.... that would mean I wasn't a soprano all along?!?!?!?!
The main arguments against me being a contralto are:
i have high agility, coloratura facility and a large upper extension
my timbre is "bell-like"
main arguments for me being a contralto are:
speaking voice sits at C3,
D3-D4 tessitura
1st passaggio C4, 2nd passaggio A4
so either i am a coloratura contralto, a rare but known vocal type, or the world's first and only megadeep coloratura mezzo
@Xibanya sounds like you could cut their throat with Occam's razor here
@Xibanya look at some point I'm gonna need you to tie one of these people to a chair, shine a light on their face in a dark room, and ask them why they're so set against acknowledging that female contraltos exist.
@MachineLordZero "contraltos are rare" has become a tautology
Unchain my range
Babe, let me sing
@Xibanya *counts on fingers*
so, 12 tones, then
