@clacke
Interesting that allyl isothiocyanate is a fairly small molecule. I wonder if that small size has something to do with the “in the sinuses” experience of eating it. Maybe a small amount evaporates and goes into the nose.

@ai6yr certainly not the pickle one. Too juicy

Friday night, I was in Montreal to accept the 2026 Freedom of Expression Award from the Canadian Media Lawyers Association, in recognition of a lifetime of work fighting for freedom of speech, open courts and civil liberties as both a journalist and a Senator. It was a truly moving honour to receive - one I share with every colleague who supported me, every editor and publisher who had my back, my Senate colleagues and staff, and all the lawyers who advised, protected and inspired me. #yeg #yul #cdnpoli

@wonofone @Daveography LOL I would much prefer the government not to get involved in spanking.

@ai6yr Honestly, we should have a full lustration of anyone who has collaborated with fascist, anti-constitutional directives.

Watched a belated Halloween horror movie with the wife, who had previously professed a deep distaste for horror movies. She enjoyed it. It was a "light weight" horror movie but it went over very well, she found characters defeating movie villain evil to be "satisfying"

@noiseician Music directors in the radio industry worldwide use it to decide what to play.

@Daveography @ai6yr thanks for sharing, can't unsee this

@mattblaze Do you cure votes with pickle curing, dry curing, or dry salt curing? 🤪

"AI is going to solve so many medical and scientific--"

no it won't. there's no money in it.

"but cancer--"

nope!

how do I know? we could completely solve poverty right now for around 10% of elon musk's net worth. but we don't! because there's no money in it. and that's that. end of story.

@sun @amerika

I encapsulate this with two related axioms.

"dissent is custodian of consent"
"might is custodian of rights"

That's quite different from saying "might is right". "custodian" is meant to indicate a role of guardianship, care and nuture. Rights are derived from the mutual willingness to take "no" for an answer. Might is necessary in order to safeguard one's rights. If that willingness is no longer mutual, then violence is the only remaining recourse. An obvious example of this would be the 1st and 2nd amendments to the US constitution. The 1st allows you to express dissent without reprisal. The 2nd allows you to back it up when others (particularly the government) try to abrogate that or any other natural right.

@amerika @sun @toiletpaper >nietzsche was right
>plato was right
Nietzche proved Plato was wrong. He also proved that reading philosophy is for faggots. Thats why he called it the gay science.
