Emu portrait.

This particular emu is a zoo resident, not a wild bird, although it's generally not too difficult to find wild emus (maybe not around Melbourne though).

Pssst, “AI;DR” is a solid policy.

Send that slop back. Why should you spend time and effort reading what they didn’t spend time nor effort on writing and as a result clearly don’t understand?

@fak awesome 👍😀

What is the current non-fash non-enshittified domain name registrar of choice? Preferably not in the US...

@jaz well, since you asked #DefaidodonDay these ones weren't very soft, but were very colourful.

my partner: what is that noise?

me: my notifications

him: can you turn them down, they are so loud

no 🚀

Absolutely unreal night at the #MTGxStarTrek event.
I’m so fortunate to be even tangentially involved in the creation of these cards.
Mindblowing stuff for teenage Me.

@SteveFoerster as a strategic thinker, he's a clear issue for the blue Congress, but if they stop yapping publicly about what they will do, they can surprise him.

To be clear, I don't like him , but he helped write Trump's playbook and so he has a personal stake.

He's one that needs to be trapped in his own web.

@dec_hl @Gela @CatsOverPeople

immerhin sollte das vom Aufwand überschaubar gewesen sein 😅

@jwildeboer Same in Mississippi, or are they done now?

@wadiest I think it was “What is the purpose of screen?” and it was our second choice.

From the technical side anyone can spin up their own Lemmy instance and view all votes, but I'm curious at what the community's perspective on how "private" that is. I think Mbin already shows upvoters? Piefed allows anonymous voting. I also know there are sites which show all voting history, but assuming those are fairly disliked.

My general questions to the community: - Do you expect your votes to be private, or just not shown in the UI? - Would per-voter votes showing up on another aggregator platform bother you, even though your instance already shares them with other servers?

For context I'm the dev doing some two way bridge interop between atproto + Threadiverse, in atproto the votes/likes are generally publicly accessible, you just look at the users repo through something like pdsls.dev, they're readable and archivable by anyone. In my opinion this isn't that big of a problem since it's fairly hard to look at and discern (Ex all my votes: https://pdsls.dev/at://did:plc:lmdkqemqrqnfiix72pyjhfey/social.coves.feed.vote). Ultimately trying to figure out if there's already a mutual understanding that they are public and we can just mirror them or whether they should stay hidden as an aggregate.

@moof We need to celebrate the assistance people on public transport.

On Britain's railway stations - in our experience - they are patient, and cheerful despite everything that the railway companies and passengers throw at them.
They make rail travel into something special for so many people who frequently experience difficulties and unpleasantness.

Let's give them a cheer (and a pay rise!)

@klord Is this something for someone that didn’t play the original or is it mainly a retro thing for the old fans?

@brentharrell Fixed now. Casey regrets the error (I’m sure). Here’s the link: https://rgoldfinger.com/podcast_transcripts/atp/

Moon In The Morning

The glacier, tinted with sunrise pink, is waiting for any warmth. The super full moon setting above is providing none.

It's 10:30am in mid-November; the sun rose an hour ago but has only just reached 3° above the horizon in the south-south-east.

Please look at this panorama closely, if you can. It's very detailed.
