What a mix of a week! Work’s paying for a pentesting course and cert. I get to hire a compliance team. And, oh yeah, I’m also doing physical security.
Of course, @DoctorDeathray never stopped making music. She's got several albums and half a dozen EPs on her bandcamp.

Violet and Sundog are playing a gig in Athens GA tomorrow, if you might be in the area, you should check it out.
I've helped a bunch of other people release music, you can find a lot of that on https://analogrevolution.bandcamp.com
But I'm not gonna talk about the rest of it today, Today is just Hurly Burly.
Literally 1 minute later... okay, it's not nice like all your new fangled automatic machines, but sure is neater than my hand attempt, lol. #sewing
Okay, this is an option, for sure... assuming the bumpy edge on the actual waistband doesn't get in the way. The last pants I was quite worried the buttonhole wouldn't be able to move the fabric around.... #sewing
Good thing my tetanus shot is up to date. Can you get lockjaw from stabbing yourself with a sewing needle? 🤔 #sewing

Lions, four hundred years ago:
"Lyons bones have no marrow in them and are so hard that they will strike fire. Their neck is made of one stiffe bone, without any vertebras. They have five claws on the hinder feet and the balls of their eyes are black. Lyons eat but once in two days, and drink in like manner. Formerly in England a Lyon could tell noble blood from base. There is a variety of Lyon with human faces. Lyons bones have no marrow in them and are so hard that they will strike fire. (...) some are of opinion that there is therein [the tail] a little sting wherewithall the Lyon pricketh itselfe."

Har ikväll blandat melon,- körsbär- , och kokosnöt-essenser. Nu ska de få ligga till sig så får vi se vad de går för
@doktorzjivago Nu ser de inte riktigt ut så där. :)
@ai6yr
edit thick not think.
That is some thick denim. A Singer buttonholer attachment might not be robust enough. It doesn't have the mechanics of a zigzag.
Fraycheck is useful to hold those threads together.
Give your hand buttonholing at least one more chance.
First basted edge. This guy is strengthening the edge by using a gimp reinforcement, under the usual tiny blanket stitch. No need to remove what you've done.
Make sure the button fits through the hole first.
Sound off

Its like sitting near a window basically, people on the sidewalk are gonna have trouble seeing you with just their eyes (i mean like most sidewalks are quite far away to the window because of front yards) but anyone could get a camera with zoom lens and see your face.

Government must move away from toxic social media platforms | Open Rights Group [Video]
We shouldn’t be forced to use toxic platforms that track and profile us in order to get public information.
Platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and YouTube track and profile their users so that they can target advertising towards them.
Their business models fuel online harms by pushing more and more extreme content to users. Despite this, these platforms are one of the primary ways that government departments share public information.
Tell your MP to support the EDM calling on the UK Government to ensure that all public sector social media content is published on open, decentralised and federated platforms!

@kagan It's been years! I'm honestly not sure whether it was Google Plus, early days of Twitter, or elsewhere (could've been NymWars, too), but I'm very glad regardless! 🌞
@garidin Yeah, I'm glad too! 😄
@Dougfir @ai6yr
Ritzy Balboa Island (Newport Beach, California) started plans to rebuild their aging seawall in 2014. They capped the new height at 9.5' on the demand of residents who did not want to lose their views.
They anticipated Sea rise by 2100.
This project was actually completed, as it was funded by ultra-wealthy residents.
They may rethink that now.
@nullagent "Seeing ETH fall to the LLMs"?
AFAICT nobody has verified the "proof". It's possible it might be valid, but the default assumption should be that it's not.
It's really weird that people are a lot more eagar to believe the statistical bullshit extruder that's known for searching out exploitable bugs in theorem-provers to prove false statements with gibberish than to believe human cranks who publish this type of result.
CS Theory is basically in a situation right now where its clear. The VC class has built our version of Hubble, the Large Hadron Collider and NASA all rolled up into one interesting pile of science (yes with uncertain validation) currently being hawked by corporate shit heads as the second coming of christ himself.
The VCs, techbros and pundents aside... imo we're past my person line of where the AI/LLM technology can simply be ignored as capitalism.
This is fundamental CS theory.
@ai6yr I'm sorry to report that doesn't work.
I have an authentic English accent and period clothes. Instead of helping me with buttonholes, I just started eyeletting everything for lacing.
As I said, this is a time to act.

#HardenedBSD 15-STABLE build server update:
that is all, thank you for coming to my ted talk 🙂
I’ve read a lot about the novel Middlemarch while reading the novel Middlemarch, and one thing scholarship doesn’t mention very often is how the book really does double as strength training when you’re walking to a café

How private do you consider your votes in the Threadiverse?
From the technical side anyone can spin up their own Lemmy instance and view all votes, but I'm curious at what the community's perspective on how "private" that is. I think Mbin already shows upvoters? Piefed allows anonymous voting. I also know there are sites which show all voting history, but assuming those are fairly disliked.
My general questions to the community: - Do you expect your votes to be private, or just not shown in the UI? - Would per-voter votes showing up on another aggregator platform bother you, even though your instance already shares them with other servers?
For context I'm the dev doing some two way bridge interop between atproto + Threadiverse, in atproto the votes/likes are generally publicly accessible, you just look at the users repo through something like pdsls.dev, they're readable and archivable by anyone. In my opinion this isn't that big of a problem since it's fairly hard to look at and discern (Ex all my votes: https://pdsls.dev/at://did:plc:lmdkqemqrqnfiix72pyjhfey/social.coves.feed.vote). Ultimately trying to figure out if there's already a mutual understanding that they are public and we can just mirror them or whether they should stay hidden as an aggregate.
